However, Al-Ittihad blocked the transfer.

Less than two years after swapping Aston Villa for Riyadh, Moussa Diaby was searching for a way back to Europe.

Furthermore, he even agreed personal terms with Inter, only for Al-Ittihad to block the transfer.

Diaby even had a conversation with Cristian Chivu over his potential role at San Siro.

Indeed, the 45-year-old manager saw the Frenchman as an upgrade on Luis Henrique on the right wing.

Yet, Inter’s proposals never met Al-Ittihad’s demands.

The Nerazzurri had first tried to sign Diaby on loan with an option to buy.

But after the Saudis rejected that bid, they offered to include certain conditions that would trigger a mandatory clause.

However, Al-Ittihad informed the San Siro club of their unwillingness to sanction the deal hours before the deadline.
