Luka Vuskovic is currently shining as an absolute top performer at Hamburger SV. It has now emerged that he could have moved to FC Bayern two years ago

At just 18 years of age, Luka Vuskovic has already developed into a regular at Hamburger SV. Since matchday 2, he has been on the pitch for 90 minutes in every game in the Bundesliga. He also played in Croatia’s international match against the Faroe Islands, forming the central defence with Bayern star Josip Stanisic and Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol

Impressive performances for an 18-year-old who could have landed at FC Bayern just over two years ago. As BILD head of soccer Christian Falk has now revealed, the young defender was actively offered to the Munich club by his management in February 2023

At the time, he was just about to make the leap into the first team of his home club Hajduk Split, for whom he was allowed to play a few games over 90 minutes at the age of just 16

Bayern’s transfer fee was too high

At the time, a transfer fee of three million euros plus two million euros in bonuses was reportedly asked for, which was too much money for the Bayern bosses at the time, so they ultimately decided against signing the current HSV player

In addition to the transfer fee, which was considered too high at the time, those in charge at Säbener Straße also had another problem with Vuskovic: his behavior on the ball was a little too „arrogant“ for the Munich club, as Falk reports

Today, his market value is 18 million euros according to Transfermarkt . According to Falk, Tottenham transferred around 15 million euros to Hajduk Split in the summer before immediately loaning him out to Hamburg. Real Madrid are also said to have been interested, but only offered 12 million euros for the 1.93m tall youngster.
