Paulo Dybala renewed his contract, which expired on June 30, for another season this summer.

One of the main reasons for this is Gian Piero Gasperini’s willingness to do so and the harmony between the Argentine star and the coach.

The Grugliasco-born coach has always considered the Argentine star crucial to his project in the capital.

When Dybala is well, he plays, the former Atalanta player’s diktat. From words, he has moved on to action.

The Grugliasco-born coach reportedly worked with both the player and Roma to break the deadlock in negotiations.

After a phone call from Massara, then Roma’s sporting director, announcing to Novel that the club would submit an offer, no one heard from him again, so much so that Dybala’s agent began looking elsewhere.

Gasperini’s intervention was crucial in convincing the Friedkins to sit down and discuss a proposal for Dybala’s renewal. As Gazzetta.it reported, the deal didn’t materialize immediately, as the number 21 had to reduce his salary. When the parties struggled to reach an agreement, Juventus contacted Novel to inquire about the situation and the Joya’s financial demands.

Dybala, however, reportedly reiterated his desire to stay at Roma: he had given his word to Gasperini, who had worked so hard for him, and he would never go back on it.

Napoli had also made inquiries, but only the Giallorossi were interested in the number 21. Gasperini thus secured the Argentine champion’s contract, who has given the Roman club absolute priority.
