Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad have now touched down in Florida ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The UEFA Champions League winners of 2023 come into the newly-expanded competition as reigning holders of its title, having won the last edition prior to its rebrand back in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia.

Off the back of their maiden European triumph, Manchester City travelled to the Middle-East and secured victories over Urawa Reds and Fluminense to take the crown of world champions through until the new edition of the competition.

32 teams from across the globe are due to go head-to-head throughout the United States this summer as FIFA’s expanded tournament takes huge financial importance for all those involved, and the unique opportunity of winning the first version of the newly-expanded match-up.

For Manchester City, they have seen their first-team stars conclude a period of personal time-off and international duties with their respective nations, briefly reconvening at the City Football Academy earlier this week before jetting out to the United States on Thursday.

Now, as detailed by the Manchester Evening News, Pep Guardiola and his squad will be based at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida and are expected to step up their training plans over the weekend ahead of their Club World Cup opener against Wydad AC in Philadelphia.

It is explained that the facility will act as a base camp for Manchester City ahead of the tournament, training at the university’s Bobby Campbell Stadium – a floodlit facility including covered stands and seating for up to 500 people, now decked out in City colours and insignia.

Kathy Kroupa, athletics director for Lynn University, said of Manchester City’s arrival and presence on campus, “We’re incredibly excited and honoured to welcome Manchester City to Lynn University as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

“Hosting one of the world’s top football clubs is a tremendous opportunity for our university – not only as a premier training location but also as a chance to build meaningful relationships with world-class teams.”

Kroupa continued, “This opportunity comes as we celebrate our men’s soccer team’s victory in the 2024 Division II NCAA National Championship, highlighting our commitment to excellence in athletics.

“We hope this experience serves Manchester City well and lays the foundation for future collaborations that benefit both our athletic programs and the broader Lynn community.”

Following the meeting with Wydad AC in Philadelphia, City will complete their group stage campaign with a further two meetings as they take on Al Ain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia and Juventus at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
