Donyell Malen’s impact in the Roma jersey has been devastating.

In the match against Torino, the former PSV, Borussia Dortmund, and Aston Villa striker displayed his full repertoire and found the back of the net twice: one was ruled out by a matter of millimeters, the other was validated by a fabulous assist from Dybala.

The Dutch striker, however, wasn’t just interested in the Giallorossi.

Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking to TeleVomero, stated that Napoli had also been interested in the 27-year-old: “Napoli had signed Malen and—without the transfer window being blocked—would have made a very similar move to the one they made with Roma.”

Essentially, the failed transfers of Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca have prevented the Castel Volturno club from making any signings. In addition to Malen, the Azzurri had also shown interest in Dovbyk and Ferguson.

The former, having been injured, has effectively withdrawn from the market. The latter, however, appears destined to remain at Trigoria at least until the end of the season.
