Liverpool could be set for a midfielder shakeup this summer.

Players out of contract in 2027 include Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliott. Jones, 25, is a target for Inter Milan while Bajcetic has been mentioned as a potential acquisition for Sevilla in La Liga.

In the case of Elliott no decision has been made on the playmaker who will be given a chance to impress Andoni Iraola on the preseason tour.

Trey Nyoni struggling for game time

Adding to a potential midfield clearout could be Trey Nyoni. The 19-year-old struggled for consistent minutes under Arne Slot last season and is crying out for first-team football at this stage of his development.

It would be a surprise if Richard Hughes considered a permanent deal for the England youth but that hasn’t stopped links to Championship sides.

Anfield Watch previously revealed that he was being watched intently by RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Aberdeen want Nyoni loan move

Swansea media believes their club could get the elegant midfielder for around £6m-£7m - but a loan deal would surely suit Nyoni and Liverpool a lot more.

On the Minute is now reporting that Aberdeen of the Scottish top flight have come forward with interest in signing Nyoni on loan for the season.

The report also mentions Swansea being in the mix for a permanent move for the promising youngster - with Vitor Matos’ side’s interest being matched by Norwich City and Blackburn.

Loan move would suit Nyoni best

“Aberdeen have joined the race for Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni, but the Scottish Premiership side are only exploring a loan move for the highly rated teenager,” the report reads.

“Their interest differs from Swansea City, Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City, who are all understood to be considering permanent deals worth around £6million.”

Nyoni was signed from the Leicester City academy back in 2023 with Jurgen Klopp offering him a debut shortly thereafter. He was expected to kickstart his career under Slot last season but it never quite happened.

Nyoni totalled only 20 minutes of Premier League action in 2025/26 - and dropped down to Premier League 2 level for a run of games.

The playmaker is under contract until 2030 at Anfield - with a loan deal north of the border potentially serving player and club very well for the season ahead.
