Liverpool need to massively step up their game next season.

The 2025-26 campaign has been far from ideal with just one or two of Arne Slot's men actually meeting expectations.

And, the fact that one of their best players in Hugo Ekitike is now likely to be out until next January, it's clear that some transfers will have to be made.

But, the fact that several areas among the Reds' ranks now need to be bolstered means that Liverpool will probably have to pick and choose which areas of their team need it more.

Or, if they want to improve each area, they'll need to be smart in the transfer market with the latest rumour to emerge from Anfield being exactly that.

Jarrod Bowen has re-emerged as an option for Liverpool

The Englishman has been West Ham United's best player for as long as many can remember with his performances even earning him the odd call up to England's national team.

However, now that the Hammers are sitting just above the relegation zone, rumours about Bowen's future have started to emerge with Liverpool now considering the attacker as an option in the summer.

That is, according to an update from DaveOCKOP, who shared the following about Liverpool's interest.

"West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen is another name that the club is looking at this summer," they wrote.

"A move is not contingent on relegation. Liverpool’s interest exists regardless, and if the price is right, West Ham staying up doesn’t close the door.

"Even in what has been a miserable relegation-threatened campaign for West Ham, the 29-year-old has been a rare bright spot - contributing 8 goals and 8 assists in 32 Premier League appearances this season as well as keeping his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England team.

"The Reds’ interest is longstanding, having courted the Hammers skipper back in 2023 amid concern that the club needed another natural wide attacker.

"Bowen ended up signing a new contract later that year, ending suggestions Liverpool could get him at a cut-price fee."

Jarrod Bowen could become Liverpool's new Xherdan Shaqiri

Even though Bowen isn't the flashiest footballer in the world, he'd certainly get the job done.

Liverpool will be on the lookout for multiple attackers this summer and, even though they may want to sign youngsters with plenty of potential, someone such as Bowen could be a valuable addition.

The Anfield outfit have made a similar signing in the past with Xherdan Shaqiri when they activated his relegation release clause from Stoke.

Although fans weren't all that excited about his arrival, he put in a fair few solid performances and even won the Reds games every now and then.

Bowen's versatility, as well as his Premier League experience are others reasons why he'd be such a smart signing, especially if someone such as Yan Diomande ends up coming in.

Liverpool need someone who can hit the ground running as soon as they come in if they want to replace Mohamed Salah.
