Liverpool are planning to be active right up to the end of the summer transfer window. The deadline is 7pm today - September 1 - and that leaves very little time for Richard Hughes to complete any outgoing or incoming deals.
Activity is expected for Alexander Isak - the Newcastle striker in transfer limbo since Liverpool’s rejected £110m bid a few weeks ago.

It is going to the wire for the 25-year-old - with the Geordies having spent big on Nick Woltemade to replace their Swedish talisman.
But the issues at the other end of the pitch are arguably more glaring. Liverpool conceded four goals in their first two Premier League games - and can be grateful to Virgil van Dijk for his fine early-season form.
Beside him Ibrahima Konate has been all at sea.
The Frenchman is beneath his best for Arne Slot’s side so far this term - at fault for numerous chances in the first two games. He was, in fairness, back to something approaching his best for the 1-0 victory against Arsenal.
However Liverpool AGAIN lost the 26-year-old due to injury - a recurring theme for the France international since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.
Joe Gomez was summoned from the bench to fill in for Konate - but there are some transfer doubts gathering over the head of the England international too.
Crystal Palace and AC Milan are both reported to be interested in the 28-year-old - but the Reds would be leaving themselves chronically short of centre-back options if they agree to sell Gomez.
More importantly, Liverpool need to add quality at centre-back. It’s not only a question of numbers - with the club only one injury or suspension away from a shortage - but also options are required.
Konate need competition and no better player exists for the role than Marc Guehi.

Liverpool tried to sign the 25-year-old earlier this week with Crystal Palace holding out for £40m for their captain. If those are the terms then Liverpool need to get very close to them and quick.
There isn’t long to add Guehi during this transfer window - otherwise Liverpool will be left fighting it out with other suitors to land the England man on a free transfer next summer.
Time is running out.
We know Isak is the dream up front but given the Reds’ early-season defensive form - not to mention the potential injury issues over Konate and Gomez - Richard Hughes needs to pull out all the stops to land Guehi today.
