Richards Bay co-coach Papi Zothwane has made a bullish claim following their massive Betway Premiership win over Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday.
The Natal RichBoyz downed the Soweto giants courtesy of a solitary goal from Thulani Gumede, to move up to ninth on the log standings with 23 points in 19 league outings.
Zothwane, though, was not pleased with his team's display in the first half, but commended his troops for their showing in the second stanza.
“We are happy with the three points but we are not entirely happy with the performance especially in the first half. We lost a lot of balls and we made it difficult for ourselves to create scoring opportunities and we had to fix that during half time,” he said.
"We had to use the ball better then we can create chances. I think our players did exceptionally well in the second half, sticking to the instructions we gave them at half time. The second half was much better but entirely we are very happy with three points.
The 44-year-old tactician went on to suggest that Chiefs were there for the taking as he bemoaned the missed opportunities in front of goals.
“Every game that we play we always miss chances, we always create chances and we have to learn. I know we are dealing with young players but this is a big league, if you're not taking your chances you're going to be punished,” Zothwane added.
"So, even today [Tuesday] it was the same story. We could have won with a lot of goals but we can only appreciate what we only got today, that means it's a goal and three points. We can only move forward from there.
The KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit will travel to Gauteng, where they are set to face log leaders Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Wednesday, 11 March.
