Richarlison has told Vasco he will not accept a long-term contract, and the club have ruled out a permanent move from Tottenham.
According to Globo.com, Vasco pushed for a permanent transfer but could not agree a three and a half year contract with the forward. He is still trying to terminate his deal with the English club, but the chance is small.
Inside the club there had been a belief an agreement with Tottenham was possible. The board feels it went as far as it could, yet the player is not interested in a lengthy commitment in Brazilian football at this moment.
The player’s representatives did not accept the proposal. Richarlison and his family were keen on living in Brazil only until the end of this year, intending to return abroad after the season. He was excited by the prospect of playing for the club he supports, but chose not to sign long term.
The transfer window closes on Friday. Vasco have already added six signings, centre-back Gabriel Pereira, left-back Paulinho, midfielders Sosa and Lescano, and forwards Colidio and Bruno Duarte.
