Richard Ríos is in a race against time to feature for Benfica against Real Madrid, having been sidelined since 14 January.
Record writes that the Colombia international has progressed to individual sessions on the Seixal pitch, rather than only gym work, and is aiming to be available for the first leg on 17 February.
The final call will belong to José Mourinho, who will judge whether the midfielder is ready.
Ríos was disappointed not to have contributed to the 4-2 win over Real Madrid and is working intensively with that fixture in mind.
Although listed for UEFA competitions, he knows patience is required and that his return date could change. He also shared a message on social media.
This season he has played 32 matches for Benfica, 16 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,622 minutes he has scored three goals and provided two assists. He is valued at 22 million euros.
