With RB Leipzig phenom Assan Ouédraogo promoted to the German senior team, Paderborn attacking midfielder Mika Baur has been nominated to replace Ouédraogo on the Germany U21 squad. The former SC Freiburg academy man has helped his 2. Bundesliga outfit rise to the top of the German second division table through 12 matchdays.
Baur – like fellow new U21 call ups Lennart Karl and Arijon Ibrahimovic – will receive a chance to earn his first cap for Germany at the highest youth level. The southern Badger moved to Paderborn in the summer of 2024 and spent half of last season on loan with Dynamo Dresden in the 3. Liga.

This season, Baur scored two goals and added two assists for SCP in 11 league appearances. He recently saw his estimated market value tick up to €1.2m in the October Transfermarkt update. The youngster has been capped 20 times at Germany U20 level and below.
