The Riyadh Air Metropolitano will host Spain's Nations League meeting with England in Madrid, a tie that could prove pivotal in Spain's push for a fourth straight Finals appearance.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the fixture pits two of international football's powerhouses, both 2026 World Cup semi-finalists and regulars in the latter stages of major tournaments.

The venue, capacity 70,692, will again welcome the reigning world and European champions. Since opening, the stadium of Club Atlético de Madrid has staged three Spain men's senior matches, debuting internationally on 27 March 2018 with a 6-1 win over Argentina, then a 5-0 victory against Romania that sealed Euro 2020 qualification, and a goalless draw with Portugal in June 2021.

Spain are unbeaten at the Metropolitano, with two wins and one draw, scoring 11 and conceding one.

This rivalry adds another chapter, with 28 past meetings yielding 11 Spain wins, four draws and 13 England victories. Their most recent clash came in the Euro 2024 final on 14 July at Berlin's Olympiastadion, when Luis de la Fuente's side secured a fourth continental crown.

This campaign's two fixtures, 26 September in London and 15 November in Madrid, could be decisive in the battle for a Nations League Finals place.
