Robert Moreno appointed South Korea interim head coach until November | OneFootball

The Korea Football Association announced on Tuesday that Spaniard Robert Moreno, formerly AS Monaco manager, has been appointed interim head coach on a three-month term. His spell runs until 27 November while the search for a permanent successor continues.

The 48-year-old will take charge against Ecuador and Uruguay on 24 and 28 September, then Venezuela and Uzbekistan on 2 and 6 October, with two November fixtures still to be arranged.

His tenure could be extended through early 2027, covering the Asian Cup from 7 January to 5 February in Saudi Arabia, if results across his six matches are judged satisfactory.

South Korea have been without a head coach since late June, when the heavily criticised Hong-myung-bo resigned after a group-stage exit at the 2026 World Cup.

A long-time assistant to Luis Enrique with Barcelona, Roma, Celta Vigo and Spain, Moreno previously acted as caretaker for Spain during Enrique’s absence for family reasons. He later managed AS Monaco from 2019 to 2020, Granada from 2021 to 2022 and FK Sotchi from 2023 to 2025.
