Roberto Alvarado would welcome additional competition for places at Chivas as they try and solve their attacking dilemma.
Having lost striker José Juan Macías to a season-ending knee injury last week, the Flock struggled in front of goal in a 0-0 draw against Juárez to open the 2022 Apertura.
Los Rojibancos have been heavily linked with a move for Henry Martín from arch rivals América, but ‘Piojo’ doesn’t care who comes in as long as they improved the club’s chances of success.
“I wish a striker could come so that the internal competition continues to grow,” Alvarado told TUDN.
The 23-year-old attacker has his selfish reasons for this, as a title challenge would keep him in the thoughts of Mexico manager Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
“Obviously I want to get on that plane, it is an important year for everyone, to give the best of me and to be taken into account,” Alvarado said.
“I will do my best to show my best version because I want to get on that plane.
“I want to fulfil that dream and think big, think positively that I will be there.”
The former Necaxa and Cruz Azul man has scored four goals in 28 senior appearances for El Tri.
