L’Équipe reports that the atmosphere at Olympique de Marseille has deteriorated in recent months, with players increasingly uneasy about working conditions under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Marseille are coming off a 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last weekend, part of an inconsistent start to 2026.

L’Équipe reports that several players feel under permanent observation, with arrival and departure times at the Commanderie training centre, stretching durations and even canteen menus closely monitored. That level of control has left sections of the dressing room uncomfortable.

L’Équipe adds that there is confusion over some of De Zerbi’s sporting choices, with squad and staff not fully understanding certain decisions and feeling unable to challenge them. It also notes a sense among players that training is not bringing progress, despite demanding sessions.

RMC Sport reports that the Italian is reflecting on whether he has become the problem at the club, and that a decision on his future could come as early as this week.
