He is understood to feel hurt and betrayed by sections of his squad, yet still has the support of the hierarchy.

Scrutiny has intensified after a turbulent start to the year, including a 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.

L’Équipe reports that the atmosphere at the club has deteriorated in recent months, leaving players uneasy about working conditions under De Zerbi. A dressing-room source told the newspaper that little makes sense anymore and the squad feel close to breaking point.

Some players reportedly feel under constant surveillance, with checks extending beyond tactics. L’Équipe says arrival and departure times at the Commanderie are tracked, as are stretching durations and even canteen menus.
