Al-Sadd has decided to make a major move to revive what has been a lackluster season so far. Stuck in the middle of the Qatar Stars League table after winning the last two championships, the Qatari club officially announced on Tuesday the arrival of a world-class manager: Roberto Mancini. The Italian tactician, a free agent since leaving the Saudi national team in October 2024, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with a clear ambition—to bring Al-Sadd back to the top.

Until now, the team was led by Spaniard Sergio Alegre, who had been appointed as interim coach after a rocky start to the season. Mancini's arrival signals a step up in stature and sends a strong message to the rest of the league. The club, aware of the need for reinvention, is banking on the experience and charisma of a coach who won Euro 2021 with Italy and has managed several European giants.

At the same time, Al-Sadd has confirmed the permanent signing of Roberto Firmino, who arrives from Al-Ahli. The Firmino–Mancini duo perfectly embodies the club’s determination to rebuild on solid foundations and quickly reclaim its status as Qatar’s undisputed favorite.
