Eintracht began their preparations for facing Freiburg in spring-like temperatures, with 21 outfield players – including the captain – and a clear attacking approach.
The skies around the city forest may be clearing and the temperatures rising, but video analysis was the first order of the day as Eintracht reviewed the Bayern game and began preparing for SC Freiburg.
Robin Koch was back on the pitch on Wednesday for the first time since illness forced him to miss the trip to Munich, while the six long-term absentees continued their rehab work. There were a total of 21 outfield players taking part in the day’s training session, including Fousseny Doumbia and Metehan Yildirim from the U21s. After warming up, the players worked up a sweat alongside the conditioning coaches.
After that, the focus was on attacking play. Under the watchful eye of head coach Albert Riera, who only intervened with detailed technical suggestions for improvement, the clear directive was on secure build-up play in the defensive third and then, after a certain number of short passes, to burst forward with conviction.Admittedly, the drills were carried out without opposing players – but they’ll be waiting for Eintracht on Sunday.
