Robinho Jr., 18, has been out of the Santos side for more than a month and has yet to score in official matches. According to Globo.com, he renewed in April on terms that place him among the squad’s highest earners. He has only 12 appearances this season.

With Cuca offering little room, he is routinely named in squads, though he missed the last match by technical choice. His minutes are scarce, his last outing was on 21 July in the Copa Sudamericana.

His representatives, who at renewal weighed taking him to Europe for free, are now expected to help him seek opportunities there. He has been allowed to travel to Italy to finalise citizenship.

The plan is for Robinho Jr. to be registered as European, which would remove a foreign-slot issue and could ease a move. There is an expectation he could receive loan offers. His deal runs until 2031.

There have been flashpoints. Santos wanted him to play more under-20 minutes to offset first-team inactivity, but he and his camp refused, despite academy manager Elano urging that route.

In May, Robinho Jr. and Neymar argued in training, ending with the No 10 assaulting him. His camp asked Santos to take measures and considered a unilateral termination. Tempers eased days later, and since then he has featured in only four games.
