Robins hopeful Stoke City star can return against Sheffield United | OneFootball

Sam Gallagher could return to the Stoke City squad for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United.

The 31-year-old has missed Stoke’s last two games after limping off during the 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic.

But bboss Mark Robins has confirmed he is due to train again as he pushes to be involved this weekend.

“Gally will train again today,” Robins told the Stoke Sentinel.

Junior Tchamadeu and Ato Ampah have also continued their respective recoveries by featuring for Stoke’s under-21s against Borussia Monchengladbach.

“Junior and Ato have played a couple of games now, Junior is up to 60 minutes, Ato played 82 or roundabout last night,” Robins added.

“They have to demonstrate really in training. They’ve got a recovery day today and then we’ll see what they look like tomorrow.”

Robins, though, insisted returning players will not simply walk back into the side.

“It’s a really competitive squad and I’m not just going to put people in because they’re available,” he said.

“They’ve got to earn it. I don’t have to do that anymore.

“I need and want and demand everybody on the same page, everybody working to the same level, everybody working towards the same goal.”
