Sky Germany report that Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz has reached a verbal agreement with RB Leipzig on a five-year contract running to 2031.

Leipzig want to finalise the move quickly, but are unwilling to meet a reported release clause of between 25 and 28 million, and will instead seek a lower fee. Gladbach are aware of the negotiations, and it remains unclear what fee they would accept.

The 23-year-old has featured in all but one Bundesliga game this season, supplying two assists.

Since debuting at 18 under Marco Rose, he has made 96 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight and creating seven.

Over the past two and a half seasons, he has been a standout for Borussia. A former Germany Under-21 international, he is a tireless runner with an average of 11 km covered per game.

With Kevin Kampl gone and Xaver Schlager leaving at the end of the season, Leipzig are in the market for midfield reinforcements.
