Santos beat Atlético-MG 2-0 at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday 9 in the Copa Sudamericana quarter-final first leg, with debutant right-back Rodinei praising the display but insisting the tie remains open.

"First of all, I am happy to be back in Brazil and to be at a great club like Santos. Happy with the win. We spoke before the game, we knew it would be a difficult match. Not long ago Atlético had gone 10, 12 games without losing. They lost to São Paulo in the last one, but they are a good side," he told ESPN.

"Today we fought, battled and played well. We have a lead, but nothing is defined. It is a knockout tie and finishes over 180 minutes. Nothing is finished yet."

The result means Santos can lose by up to one goal in the return and still reach the semi-finals. The second leg is on Wednesday 16 at 19:00 Brasília time at Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte.

Before that, Santos face Cruzeiro on Saturday 12 at 21:00 in the 27th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. They are 13th with 32 points.
