Rodri reveals his three standout Barcelona players after Sevilla win: “Outstanding”

FC Barcelona kept up their good run of form as they visited the Sanchez Pizjuan for their seventh La Liga game of the season, and came away with a 3-1 win over Sevilla. Raphinha was the clear standout player in this match, as he scored a hat-trick to help his side come from behind and get a win.

Another player who had a very good game last night was the midfielder Rodri Hernandez. The Spaniard once again showcased his exceptional abilities controlling the game, while also making some crucial defensive contributions.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the midfield star spoke to Barca One after the match, and shared his opinion about several aspects of the game. Rodri expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and the result, while ruing Andreas Christensen’s injury:

“Very important victory, with a great deal to learn from. We knew it was a very difficult ground, and it took us a while to get into the game in the first half. We made several unforced errors against a team that defends deep well and has physical and quick players. Pep and I used to say that there is no system that makes you lose the ball systematically. It’s a shame that Christensen has been injured.”

The Spaniard was confident that the upcoming September international break will not affect the team’s excellent form too much:

“We are not going to lose our rhythm; we will keep competing. We have to keep in mind that these are important matches and return in the best possible shape.”

The midfielder highlighted three players in particular from this game:

“For me, Rapha [Raphinha] was outstanding today, Lamine was also very good, and Adeyemi—I really liked the way he came on in the second half.”

Although he was more of a luxury signing, Rodri Hernandez is already proving to be a highly influential player for Barcelona. Hopefully, he can prove to be the difference as the Catalans look to finally win the UEFA Champions League this season.
