Corinthians visit Peñarol at 21.30 on Thursday at the Campeón del Siglo in the Copa Libertadores, round five. For Rodrigo Garro, it is a chance to end an almost 18-month wait to score in back-to-back matches.
In Meu Timao’s reporting, the Argentine midfielder heads into the tie seeking to sustain fresh momentum.
The No 8 scored Corinthians’ goal in Sunday’s defeat to Botafogo in the 16th round, ending a 19-match run without scoring for the club.
He last scored in consecutive outings in late November 2024, finding the net in wins over Vasco, twice, and Criciúma in the Brasileirão. That burst powered a late surge that lifted Corinthians from the relegation zone and into the following year’s Libertadores preliminary phase.
Since then he has played 71 matches without stringing together a scoring run. During 2025 he lost minutes through injuries and selection, with Dorival Júnior pushing Breno Bidon higher in midfield.
Under Fernando Diniz he is enjoying a renewed spell. Sunday’s goal completed three straight appearances with at least one goal contribution, a first for him at Corinthians and the third of his professional career.
Corinthians top Group E and are already through to the last 16. A draw in Uruguay would seal first place and the second leg of the knockout round at home.
