Memphis Depay’s new Corinthians deal remains in its final stages, and the delay meant he missed Thursday’s Copa do Brasil exit to Internacional. Midfielder Rodrigo Garro said he is unaware of the negotiation’s details.

According to Meu Timao, the club and Depay’s representatives are exchanging final contract drafts, with negotiable points long settled and the process now with the legal department. The lengthy bilingual agreement has slowed formalisation.

Depay arrived in Brazil early on Tuesday, underwent medical tests at Hospital Sírio-Libanês the same day, then completed further assessments on Wednesday at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava.

Speaking in the mixed zone at the Neo Química Arena, Garro stressed Memphis’s importance to the group but said he does not know what is happening in the talks. Asked if he had spoken to the forward since his return to Brazil, he said he had not.

Inside the club, there is an expectation to have the No 10 available for the first match of the Libertadores last 16 against Rosario Central next Thursday at 21:30 in Argentina, and he is already registered for the tournament. Before then, Corinthians face Red Bull Bragantino on Sunday at 18:30 at Estádio Municipal Cícero de Souza Marques in the Campeonato Brasileiro. For Depay to be available to Fernando Diniz on Sunday, the new contract must be filed on the CBF’s BID, Boletim Informativo Diário, by Friday.
