A Punt reports that Rodrigo has apologised to Valencia captain José Luis Gayà, accepting he was wrong and saying he did not intend to offend, after bench remarks during Barça’s 0-5 win at Mestalla on Sunday.
In the 62nd minute Hansi Flick replaced Spain captain Rodrigo Hernández with Marc Bernal, and the midfielder left to a big ovation from the Mestalla crowd.
TV cameras later showed him on the Barça bench in conversation with Pau Cubarsí and Eric García.
In that exchange he described Valencia’s players as very weak and very bad, and asked how they had finished last season.
The remarks did not sit well in the Valencia dressing room.
