Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season and the summer World Cup.
The Brazilian returned to action for the first time in a month as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 home defeat against Getafe on Monday night.
However, Rodrygo's return has been brief with scans on an injury sustained during the game revealing that he will need surgery for an ACL injury.
The news is particularly bad for Alvaro Arbeloa, who has limited attacking options due to injury ahead of the Champions League quarter-final games against Manchester City with Vinícius Júnior and Gonzalo García the only out-and-out forwards in the absence of Kylian Mbappé.
Rodrygo played 27 times in total for Real Madrid in the 2025/26 season, scoring three times and making four assists.
