With Philippe Coutinho unavailable, Colombian midfielder Rojas is the favourite to start for Vasco against Fluminense, stepping in for the captain.
According to Globo.com, the club are handling his rise carefully, as he was recruited on loan as a bench option, albeit one viewed as high potential and strong character.
Off the bench against Volta Redonda, he delivered nine efforts at goal in 45 minutes and went close with a fine first-time strike from a Gómez cross.
Diniz and the hierarchy have been pleased with his early impact. He has adapted quickly to the coach's approach, roaming across the pitch, shooting from range and offering threat from set pieces.
He has moved ahead of Matheus França in the pecking order. Nuno Moreira could feature there, but that would shift Marino Hinestroza to the right, and he is still adapting.
Rojas drew applause as he warmed up at half-time and again after his standout second half at São Januário. He thanked supporters for their backing since his arrival and said he hopes the team achieve their objectives.
Born in Medellín, he began his professional career at La Equidad in 2022, becoming a key figure from the following year. Across three seasons he played 69 games, scoring seven goals with 10 assists, earning a move to Monterrey, the Mexican club who have loaned him to Vasco until the end of the year with an option to buy.
