Simon Rolfes stopped short of committing to Kasper Hjulmand’s future as Bayer Leverkusen coach.

After Leverkusen finished sixth in the Bundesliga on Saturday, following a 1-1 draw with Hamburger SV, the sporting managing director was unwilling to offer a clear commitment, Kicker reports.

“We want clarity on as many things as possible, as quickly as possible,” Rolfes said.

“Of course, we will do it in a timely manner. We will sit down, exchange views and analyse everything.”

Referencing the flaws shown in Saturday’s draw, he added: “are the responsibility of a coach, the coaching staff, and the club. But every player is also responsible for themselves.”

Hjulmand took over in September on a contract running until 2027. His position is under scrutiny, with reports suggesting it has already been decided he will not remain beyond the summer.
