Despite recent complications, Roma continues to pursue the Joshua Zirkzee deal with determination.
According to Il Corriere della Sera, the deal is clear, but the deadline for closing is set to slip to the end of January.
The Friedkins have given the green light to an investment in a striker who qualifies as a “sustainable operation,” but the transfer market is heavily influenced by the Africa Cup of Nations, which is also creating problems for Roma internationals N’Dicka and El Aynaoui.
The Africa Cup of Nations is impacting the Zirkzee deal. Manchester United has shown signs of openness to the Dutchman’s sale, provided it isn’t a straight loan.
However, the English club has two attacking players—Cameroonian Mbeumo and Ivorian Diallo—who will be leaving for the continental competition.
There is therefore a real risk that United will want to wait for their return before giving the final green light to Zirkzee’s departure.
A risk that Roma, who see the Dutchman as the ideal candidate, appears willing to take.
