Roma is moving to strengthen its attack, and the name at the top of Gasperini’s list is Joshua Zirkzee.

The Dutch striker, currently at Manchester United, has played just fifteen minutes in the last month and a half of the Premier League and is pushing for a change of scenery in January to avoid missing out on the World Cup.

His entourage has proposed him in Serie A, and among the most interested teams is Roma, who are actively considering a loan deal.

Manchester, who paid around €45 million for him a year ago, are unwilling to sell him permanently, but the Giallorossi could take advantage of a more affordable option.

His salary, €3.6 million per season, would be sustainable thanks to partial coverage of his salary: Roma would pay about half.

To accommodate Zirkzee, however, space will need to be cleared in the squad. Dovbyk, despite not shining, remains ahead of Ferguson in Gasperini’s pecking order. However, the Irishman—arrived on loan from Brighton and still without a goal—could return to England early to find more minutes elsewhere, thus freeing up a spot in attack.
