Roma will have to overhaul their attack.
Gasperini doesn’t want to dismantle the current squad, but there will inevitably be many changes in attack.
The likes of Ferguson, Zaragoza, and Venturino are on their way out, El Shaarawy, Dybala, and Pellegrini have expiring contracts and could end their spells in the capital, and then there’s Dovbyk.
The Ukrainian striker wants to forget this horrendous season: just 625 minutes played, scoring three goals, more time in the infirmary than on the pitch.
The former Girona player has never endeared himself to Gasperini, who once called him an out-of-tune instrument. This is why a transfer synergy with Fiorentina could emerge ahead of next season.
Dovbyk’s last appearance for Roma was on January 6th, in the victory over Lecce, in which he also scored. The Ukrainian striker was subsequently forced to retire due to a tendon injury to his left thigh, requiring surgery.
As reported by Leggo, the Giallorossi are reportedly exploring a possible loan swap between Dovbyk and Piccoli ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The former Cagliari player has also had a disappointing season in Tuscany: seven goals, three of which were in the league, in 40 appearances overall.
