Roma ‘in talks’ to sign Luiz Henrique from Zenit | OneFootball

Roma have opened negotiations with Zenit over Luiz Henrique and submitted a 30 million euro offer, with wages proposed to match his current deal. According to Fabrizio Romano, Zenit were satisfied with the initial figure and discussions continue over financial details.

Any move still requires the forward’s approval, as he and his family are well settled in Russia. Roma are aiming to reach an agreement before the European transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Botafogo sold Luiz Henrique to Zenit in January last year for about R$ 220 million. He made 38 appearances for club and Brazil last season, scoring five goals and providing five assists. His contract with the Russian side runs until December 2029.

The 23-year-old was part of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad and featured only in the second half against Morocco. He also held talks in August over a return to Brazil.

Flamengo came closest to a deal, offering 30 million euros plus 5 million euros in bonuses, before the player’s camp ended negotiations on 7 July. Club president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, halted the move, arguing he could not exceed the bid made for Thiago Almada. During talks with Atlético de Madrid, Flamengo offered between 20 and 25 million euros.

Botafogo explored a return but cannot buy him at present. A possible swap involving Danilo was discussed, though the midfielder is not interested in moving to Russia. The Brazilian transfer window closes on 11 September.
