Deportivo midfielder Marc Casadó has undergone surgery on a fractured right collarbone, the club said in a statement. The operation took place at Hospital HM Modelo in A Coruña and was performed by traumatologist Rafael Arriaza.

The on-loan Barcelona midfielder was injured during Sunday’s Deportivo v Real Betis. After being an unused substitute against Sevilla in a week of rotation, he started his third game since arriving at Riazor.

He fell following a collision with Marc Roca and damaged his shoulder, telling medics it had broken. Casadó was substituted immediately, in clear pain, which prompted concern at Deportivo and his parent club.

No timeframe was provided, with his progress to dictate any return. A fractured collarbone could keep him out for eight to 12 weeks, roughly three months.

It is a setback after he appeared to have earned Antonio Hidalgo’s trust in an upbeat project on Deportivo’s top-flight return. Casadó joined on deadline day seeking regular football after limited minutes under Hansi Flick.
