Dovbyk wants to remain at Roma.
Having regained some confidence thanks to his goal against Parma and the assist for Pellegrini against Rangers, the Ukrainian striker was then forced to sit out due to a torn rectus femoris tendon sustained in his last outing before the international break against Udinese.
While Gasperini awaits his return to action, which is expected in about 30 days, his agents are working to discuss his future with the Trigoria club.
The Ukrainian’s summer had been rather turbulent, with the real possibility of leaving the capital in the final hours of the transfer window.
A swap deal with AC Milan for Gimenez seemed close, but the negotiations collapsed in the final stages.
The Giallorossi haven’t officially signed him away, but they aren’t entirely satisfied with his performance either. Which is why, if a suitable proposal were to arrive, it would be taken seriously and carefully analyzed at Trigoria.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the former Girona striker’s family is happy in the capital and would like to stay. Next summer, after two seasons with the Giallorossi, Dovbyk will be worth around €25 million.
Selling him for around that amount shouldn’t be impossible, and sporting director Massara is ready to consider any offers from interested clubs.
The 1997-born player, now almost 29, is seeking stability at this stage of his career and doesn’t want to be loaned out: his preferred destination remains Spain.
