Roma suffered their second defeat of the 2025/26 Serie A season as Inter pulled off a narrow 1-0 win in Saturday’s classic at the Stadio Olimpico. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side slumped to their fifth consecutive home loss to the Nerazzurri, dropping to third in the table.
The Giallorossi headed into the international break in high spirits after winning three league matches on the trot. However, Inter have been a thorn in Roma’s side for years, and tonight’s game couldn’t have started any worse for the capital-based giants.
Indeed, Ange-Yoan Bonny broke the deadlock after only six minutes, putting Inter in front after Roma’s failed offside trap. Little did anyone know that it would be the final score. Yet, the Giallorossi couldn’t beat Yann Sommer tonight despite creating several promising chances.
Star forwards Paulo Dybala and Artem Dovbyk wasted the best opportunities for the home side after the break, resulting in Roma’s second defeat in four home league outings this season. It was also Roma’s eighth loss across their last ten top-flight encounters against Inter, as we examine our Giallorossi player ratings.
Mile Svilar – 7/10
Though he could’ve perhaps reacted better to deny Bonny in that fateful sixth minute, the Roma shot-stopper made four saves later on to keep his side in the game until the final whistle.
Evan Ndicka – 5/10
The Ivorian center-back lost track of Bonny for the goal and struggled to cope with the Frenchman’s strength and pace throughout the game. Not one of his most impressive nights at the Olimpico by any stretch of the imagination.
Gianluca Mancini – 8/10
Unlike Ndicka, the Italian star was nothing short of outstanding, keeping Lautaro Martinez quiet for over 60 minutes. Indeed, he didn’t put his foot wrong tonight.
Mario Hermoso – 6/10
His poor positioning allowed Bonny to stay on side for the goal. Despite improving as the game went on, he never fully convinced and looked vulnerable under pressure.
Wesley – 5/10
Forced to play on the left due to Angelino’s absence, the Brazilian couldn’t adapt to the new role, while Denzel Dumfries’ blistering pace often gave him a headache defensively.
Manu Kone – 8/10
One of the rare shining lights in the Roma shirt this evening, Kone released Dybala in space with a defense-splitting pace, yet La Joya lacked composure to beat Sommer from a few yards out.
Bryan Cristante – 6/10
His close-range header flew just over the bar shortly after Inter’s opener. However, that was his only attacking contribution in an otherwise unconvincing performance from the Roma stalwart.
Zeki Celik – 6/10
The Turkish wingback had a decent chance to draw Roma level, but he fluffed his lines, sending his close-range shot into the side netting. He at least dealt well with Federico Dimarco.
Matias Soule – 5/10
A near-anonymous performance from Roma’s best player this season! Kept quiet by Alessandro Bastoni, the Argentine starlet struggled to make an impact in the final third.
Lorenzo Pellegrini – 7/10
The Italian midfielder was arguably Roma’s most creative player tonight, often trying to split Inter’s backline open with a clever ball.
Paulo Dybala – 6/10
His set-piece deliveries frequently caused havoc inside Inter’s penalty area. However, a player of his quality should’ve done better in that situation.
Artem Dovbyk – 4/10
Jan Zilkowski – 5/10
Leon Bailey – 5/10
