As reported by Alfredo Pedullà, Roma are set to speak with Tottenham Hotspur over bringing Destiny Udogie back to Italy.
The 23-year-old Italy international has been on Spurs’ books for four seasons now, having joined them from Udinese. In the three seasons he has played for the Lilywhites (he spent one season back in Udine on loan), he has featured frequently, though injuries and managerial turnover have played a part in limiting his appearances.
The Giallorossi are keen to bring in a fullback who is technically adept in attack as well, and to that end they’re also looking at Inter’s Luis Henrique.
Udogie could be very useful option for Roma, but there’s one condition they and Spurs are yet to agree upon.
Roma are looking to initially take Udogie on loan while having an option to buy, while Spurs are only inclined to entertain a permanent sale.
With Udogie’s contract running until June 2030, Spurs are in no hurry to push for a move. Playing under Roberto De Zerbi could further boost his reputation as well, neither has the player opted to make noises about wanting away.
So Roma have an uphill battle on their hands, though he would be stylistic fit for their plans.
