Roma have kept patiently working on Rodrigo Mora despite the challenges in the talks with Porto, but they managed to land the plane. The player will arrive in Italy for the medicals on Tuesday, La Repubblica reports.
After discussing several formulas, the Giallorossi are signing the attacker on a permanent deal. They’ll pay €25M up front and grant the counterparty 50 percent of a future sale. However, they can nullify the clause by shelling out €20M next year.
Roma zeroed in on Mora after missing out on a few targets and got an assist from his agent, Jorge Mendes, who was determined to bring him to Italy so he could make the final leap. The 19-year-old had a strong 2024/2025 campaign, his first one as a regular, notching 12 goals and 4 assists in 40 appearances. Instead, he wasn’t as productive in the last one. He’ll sign a long-term contract and earn €2M annually.
The Giallorossi are working on more acquisitions. They are in advanced talks with Olympique Lyonnais for Malick Fofana. They have to decide whether to pull the trigger on another attacker or prioritize a new wing-back first, with Luis Henrique, Destiny Udogie, and Alessio Cacciamani on their shortlist.
He’s not the pure speedster Gian Piero Gasperini was clamoring for, but he’s surely highly talented and has a ton of upside. His traits and the formula, which isn’t overly burdensome on their balance sheets this year, leave room for another decent splurge. They need both another offensive weapon, even more so if they sold Matias Soulé, and another man on the flank to be whole.
