Roma is preparing for the January transfer window with a clear objective: strengthening the squad to maintain a high level of competitiveness and fuel the Champions League race.
This goal, in addition to bringing prestige to the team, would also be crucial for the club’s finances.
Gian Piero Gasperini, at the helm, needs new solutions to tackle the second half of the season, but the Giallorossi management’s work will not be limited to incoming transfers.
Roma’s transfer window will not only involve signings, but also some necessary exits to reduce the wage bill and create financial space for new reinforcements.
The Giallorossi management’s focus is primarily on two areas: the attacking line and the left flank, positions where targeted reinforcements could arrive to complete the squad and give Gasperini more tactical options.
As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, Tsimikas and Bailey, both on loan, could leave Roma as early as January to return to Liverpool and Aston Villa, respectively. The decision to end the two players’ loans is said to be motivated by technical reasons.
Indeed, the two have not convinced the manager, who is increasingly giving them less playing time.
A possible return of Tsimikas and Bailey to their clubs would open up financial opportunities for incoming players.
Outgoing players are considered crucial to allowing Roma to reduce their balance sheet and raise funds for new signings who could help maintain the team’s competitiveness, especially ahead of key fixtures in Serie A and European competition.
