Roma ‘to target’ Lyon winger Malick Fofana amid fitness and competition concerns | OneFootball

Roma are reported to be targeting Lyon winger Malick Fofana, 20, as a leading option to strengthen their attack.

According to Corriere dello Sport, he was initially viewed as an alternative to RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, 21, but is now said to top the Giallorossi shortlist as a move for the Norwegian looks difficult.

There are significant uncertainties for Roma, starting with Fofana’s fitness. He missed almost the entire last season after a serious ankle injury, and a fee of around €40m, his reported valuation, would be a considerable risk.

Leipzig are also seen as competition. Having sold Yan Diomande, 19, to Real Madrid, they are reportedly targeting the striker as his replacement.

Fofana’s agents, Roc Nation, who also represent Diomande, are said to be pushing for a move to Germany. Several issues therefore remain to be clarified before any pursuit can advance.
