Roma takes to the field aiming to win: not only for sporting reasons, but also for financial ones.
Direct qualification to the Europa League round of 16 would avoid the playoffs and allow the club to maximize revenue from the competition.
Coach Gian Piero Gasperini reiterated this: the squad has the potential to compete on all fronts, and the intention is not to give up.
Last season, the Giallorossi fought for a place in the top half of the table, and now they want to fight for the title all the way.
According to Corriere dello Sport, reaching the final stages of the Europa League would mean earning up to €30 million, a figure that could be crucial for the January transfer window, particularly for the acquisition of a new striker capable of providing more goals than Dovbyk and Ferguson have so far (only three).
The Europa League awards €450,000 for a win and €150,000 for a draw, in addition to a redistribution of prize money based on overall performance.
So far, Roma has already collected around €5 million, including €1 million tied to results and €4 million for participation alone. Climbing to the top eight of the group would mean securing additional resources, while also consolidating their sporting position.
Tonight’s match against Danish side Midtjylland is therefore crucial. The visitors are top of the table with a perfect record, while the Trigoria club is chasing its first home win of the competition after disappointing defeats against Lille and Viktoria Plzen.
