Roman Dixon joins Walsall after Premier League debut and decade at Everton | OneFootball

Walsall have signed former Everton right-back Roman Dixon on a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months. The 21-year-old becomes the Saddlers’ 12th summer addition and will vie for the right-back role with Rico Browne and Elicha Ahui.

ExpressAndStar.com reports that Dixon spent 10 years in Everton’s system before being released at the end of last season. His potential caught Sean Dyche’s eye in 2024, and his only Premier League outing followed an injury and suspension crisis at right-back.

He was handed his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur, starting at 19 against James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Heung-Min Son. Everton lost 4-0 in North London, though Dixon drew positive notices for his display.

He also featured in League Cup ties against Doncaster Rovers and Southampton in 2024-25. A serious ankle ligament injury required surgery in April 2025, sidelining him for seven months. He returned earlier this year and joined Stockport County on loan in January, making nine appearances at Edgley Park across all competitions.

Dixon has also represented England at youth level. He first played for the under-16s against Scotland in 2019, then won two under-20 caps in 2024, debuting from the bench in a team that included new Saddlers goalkeeper Jed Ward and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham.
