Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to monitor RB Leipzig teenager Yan Diomande, who has been taking the Bundesliga by storm this season.

The 19-year-old is a native of Abidjan who started his career in the United States, representing Yulee Hornets and DME Academy.

Last January, the winger arrived in Europe, signing for Leganes. While his exploits weren’t enough to prevent the Spanish club from getting relegated to the second tier, he earned himself a tranfer to Leipzig.

Diomande swiftly adjusted to his new surroundings, cementing himself as a regular starter at the Bundesliga club. He has already contributed with seven goals and four assists in his 16 appearances across all competitions.

The teenager is currently representing the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations. He was in the starting lineup on Wednesday, helping his national team beat Mozambique 1-0, with Man Utd star Amad Diallo scoring the winner.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Diomande’s meteoric rise hasn’t gone unnoticed, as a host of top European clubs are following his development.

However, in the latest video uploaded to his official YouTube channel, the Italian journalist could only confirm the names of two clubs that scouted the 19-year-old: Man Utd and Tottenham.

Why Diomande could be perfect for Ruben Amorim

Romano describes Diomande as a ‘very good’ talent, expecting him to end up signing for one of the European elite. However, Leipzig might not be keen on selling him this summer, having already cashed in on Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons last summer, so they might be able to resist offers until 2027.

But after seemingly missing out on Antoine Semenyo, who appears destined to join Man City, United could identify Diomande as the perfect alternative.

After all, Ruben Amorim has reiterated his desire to sign a right-footed winger capable of performing several roles on the left side, similar to Amad on the right flank.

So perhaps linking the former Rangers and Sunderland loanee with his young compatriot could be the ideal solution.
