Roma’s Champions League goal has become crucial not only for sporting reasons, but also for the long-term strategies of the club’s ownership.
Since the Friedkin family’s arrival, the request has been clear: to bring the club back to the top, not only in Italy but also in Europe.
Qualifying for the top European competition represents an obligatory step in this journey. It would be the first time under the Texan ownership that the Giallorossi would access the group stage of the Champions League. A goal that would improve the club’s international image and, above all, would guarantee immediate economic benefits.
As La Repubblica reports, entry into the tournament alone is worth around 60 million euros, a figure that includes television rights, participation bonuses and UEFA coefficients.
But the profits do not stop there. The club could collect additional funds from performance bonuses for the 8 group stage matches and from the revenue from the 4 home matches played at the Stadio Olimpico.
This extra revenue would represent a decisive turning point for financial management, at a time when UEFA fair play requires rigor and sustainability in the balance sheets.
In addition to the accounts, the club’s appeal would also benefit from a presence in the Champions League: attracting sponsors, valorizing the talents in the squad and increasing global visibility are all positive side effects of a European qualification.
