Roma has put its Under-23 team project on hold.
Despite the idea of launching the B team to coincide with the club’s centenary year, the club has decided to postpone registration for the upcoming Serie C championship.
As reported by Piero Torri on Radio Manà Manà Sport, the decision was influenced by the limited time needed to complete the procedures and, above all, the estimated operating costs of between €6 and €8 million.
This figure was deemed excessive at this stage, prompting the club to redirect resources and attention to restructure the entire youth academy.
The new direction of the Giallorossi youth team marks the return to Trigoria of Massimo Tarantino, formerly head of youth development from 2013 to 2019.
Alongside him, Pasquale Berardi, arriving from Inter, will be the head of scouting.
Furthermore, Bruno Conti’s fifty-year stint with Roma will conclude on June 30th. Alberto De Rossi, longtime head of development and training, is expected to take on a different role to integrate with the new organization.
