In-form Novorizontino midfielder Rômulo set a new personal best last weekend, scoring and assisting in the heavy win over Londrina.
As reported by Globo.com, he is on loan from Palmeiras and remains under contract there until 2028. His 2026 tally is 22 direct goal contributions, split 11 goals and 11 assists, eclipsing his 2023 mark of 20 for Novorizontino.
He called it the best spell of his career, expressed delight at the milestone, and said he hopes to keep helping with goals, assists and overall play.
He is now one goal from making this his highest-scoring season. In 2023 he needed 51 matches to reach 11 goals, a figure he has matched in just 32 games this year. With most of the Série B second round still to play, there is ample time to add more.
Novorizontino sold him to Palmeiras in 2024 for R$ 7.4 million. He struggled to establish himself there, was loaned to Ceará, then returned to Novorizontino last season.
Back in form this year, he was one of the standouts in their Campeonato Paulista runners-up finish. He missed the first leg of the final against Palmeiras, and the club paid a clause to field him in the second, but a quiet display could not prevent the defeat that confirmed Palmeiras' title.
The loan runs until the end of 2026, and he could leave if Palmeiras receive a suitable offer. Targeted by clubs abroad, his sale value is set at four million dollars.
