Cristiano Ronaldo raged at the referee as Al-Nassr lost 3-2 to Al-Ettifaq in a thrilling Saudi Pro League (SPL) contest yesterday.
Ronaldo’s side twice led through Ayman Yahya and Mohammed Al-Fatil, but they were pegged each time by the visitors.
Georginio Wijnaldum won the contest for Al-Ettifaq with a stunning strike three minutes from full-time.
It was a frustrating game for Ronaldo as he failed to get on the scoresheet. He let his emotions get the better of him when Jhon Duran was dismissed in stoppage time.
The former Manchester United star argued with the referee before booting the ball from the centre circle and off the pitch in anger.
The latest defeat is a big blow to Al-Nassr’s hopes of winning the SPL title this season.
They are now fourth in the table, eight points behind Al-Ittihad. Ronaldo is the league’s top scorer, with 16 goals in 20 appearances.
Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, he has bagged 82 goals and 19 assists in 92 appearances across all competitions.
The forward is expected to play in the 2026 World Cup for Portugal.
