Cristiano Ronaldo says he is targeting 1,000 career goals before he hangs up his boots.
Stats show Ronaldo has netted an astounding 946 senior goals in his career, including those scored for his national team Portugal.
In an interview with Canal 11, the 40-year-old admits his family have told him it is time to retire.
He said: “People, especially my family, say: ‘It’s time for you to stop. You’ve done everything. Why do you want to score a thousand goals?
“But I don’t think so. I think I’m still producing good things, I’m helping my club and the national team, and why not keep going?”
The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus striker is still scoring at a phenomenal rate for his club Al Nassr as well as Portugal, and is eyeing a place at next year’s World Cup.
“I’m sure that when I finish, I’ll be fulfilled, because I gave it my all,” he added.
“I know I don’t have many more years, but the few I have, I try to enjoy to the fullest.”
