Roony Bardghji breaks silence after ACL injury during Barcelona training

Earlier this week, Barcelona confirmed the sad news that Roony Bardghji sustained an ACL injury during training, for which he is forced to undergo surgery. The 20-year-old will undergo a long period of rehabilitation after he goes under the knife, with the likelihood being that he will be out of action for at least 6-7 months.

Bardghji’s absence is expected to be longer than a normal ACL injury, given that this is the second time it’s happened to him in his short career – and on both occasions, it was the same knee affected. Upon the news being confirmed, he took to Instagram (via Sport) to send a message of thanks to those that have offered their support.

“I would like to thank all the wonderful people at FC Barcelona who have supported me during these last, difficult 24 hours. To my teammates, the club staff, the management and the president, your support really means a lot to me. I would like to especially thank all the Barça fans for the incredible love and support. I am grateful for every message and for everyone who is by my side. I believe in God’s plan.”

Bardghji summer exit thwarted by injury blow

Prior to him being injured earlier this week, Bardghji was on the verge of leaving Barcelona. He’d already accepted that an exit was in his best interest after falling down the pecking order in attack for 2026-27 season, which is why he was not included in the squad that travelled to Udine at the weekend for the tournament against Udinese and Nottingham Forest.

Instead, Bardghji will be staying at Barcelona, likely until next summer. His career has suffered a significant setback with this latest blow, although he will already be thinking about his recovery – with a view to returning to the pitch at some stage later in the 2026-27 season.
